Just a note to say that the snow was very smooth up there today on some of my favorite aspects.  Foot steps and old tracks down the main slope from Muir were easily avoided to find smoothness.  Might be worth a go if it gets as cold as last night.  Snow was soft enough at ~930 to carefully skin up the first SW facing steep slope some ~500 vert feet above the parking lot, (I never have been familiar with the names of features around Paradise).  Some of the best corn snow I've had.  A liittle slow and mushy from ~6500' and down at around 330-400pm.  Very clear.  I thought I could see Mt Jefferson just to the west of Hood.
