April 30/01, 2016, Fremont Lookout via Grand Park

Finally checked out Grand Park and made an early-season visit to the Fremont lookout.  FR73 is still snow covered for the last 1.5miles.  The park is large and flat, took us until late afternoon to reach a campsite.  We approached Fremont Peak from its W side after following Norther Loop trail for water.  A 1600' avy chute directly below the lookout still had enough snow all the way except the last ~50' from the summit, we ended up booting its upper 1000'.  Skiing on E and N slopes was wonderful even with my (and David's) skinny fish-scale skis.  All this two day effort earned us was a single 1800' run, but it was nice and the surrounding view was gorgeous.  Thanks David and Sally for being good companies, not knowing much detail always helps, at least for the first time ;D
