Ross Freeman and I skied Black Peak on Tuesday. We found generally good corn snow thanks to the cool temperatures (5000ft freezing level). There was an inch or two of new snow on Sunday night which brightened up the snowfields and didn't mess up the skiing surface too much.
On the summit I scattered a few ashes from my wife Steph. She joins my brother Carl on top of Black Peak. It was the first peak the three of us climbed together, back in 1981. Fond memories.
Beautiful.
It's just not fair. Sorry that such majesty can hold so much pain.
The first picture is classic Cascades. Kudos.
Moist eyes...
Couldn't think of a more beautiful place.
Ohhhh Goode some fond some not to fond memories.

Thank you for sharing Lowell another beautiful day in remembrance of such wonderful people.
Wow. I can't think of much to say but wow.
Bittersweet - trying to make lemonade from some of life's bitterest lemons. Well done Lowell.
Wonderful final ascent.
Beautiful - thank you so much.
Much love to your people
Thanks for sharing how meaningful the mountains are to all of us! They bring us together with the most amazing people
Lowell, I'm not sure we are worthy of sharing such a personal moment, but thanks so much for letting us in. Makes me happy to share the good with the sad.
