Got an early start from Seattle to make a quick rip up Herman out of the Mt. Baker Ski Area. Took the far-side approach up (I think) Mazama Dome to the (false) summit. I didn't even realize that the true summit was the next peak back the first four or five times I made it up there. Oops.

Ride down was actually pretty fun-- dust on slush, not sticky at all, and we managed to sneak in during a period of good visibility. It was lightly snowing on us starting around 10am. We took the main route down the gully skier's left of the ridge we ascended the other side of.

Fortuitously, there had been a big slide from what we guessed was the rain the day before that had built a very convenient exit route across the creek and the bottom of the main chute. It didn't look to be the product of cornice collapse like some of the other debris we skirted around. More likely loose wet gaining steam down the gully.

Still tons of snow up there-- I wish we had time for another lap.
