April 21, 2016 Mammoth Lakes

A storm is coming and today is a great day (may be the last for awhile) for sun, corn and no crowds. We used one of our free tickets from our Mountain Collective Passes. Lifts start at 8:30 am, but we waited for the slopes to soften a bit. The Eagle and Canyon Lodges and lifts are closed, so we skied from the Stump Alley Express and Main Lodge areas where the lifts are operating. The winds were pleasant and the warm temperatures make it feel quite nice. The crowds were skiing the center slopes, and Jill and I were skiing the edges of the groomed trails. It was effortless. We just followed the sun and kept moving from one area to another. Mammoth is a large area with a wide selection of terrain. The storm begins this evening with high winds and some snow.
