April 15-20, 2016, Bugs to Rog (McMurdo Bail)

Fantastic weather on the Bugs to Rog days 1-5 with the death heat finally taking its toll on the snowpack by day 6. South facing cols are melting out fast, the exit off International Mountain appears to be completely melted out and would require a rappel from the glacier onto the west facing slope (we went over Carbonate Col due to deteriorating snow conditions (iso) and a large glide crack threatening Malachite Col). Saying all this the route could be good again after this next incoming storm if FLs stay low.
We bailed on day 6 down the McMurdo FSR due to a terrible weather forecast and a plethora of gear failures on day 5.
The damage:
1 splitboard broken in half
1 over flexed, jammed ski boot that we had to hack saw the walk mode bar off of
2 broken poles
1 punctured sleeping pad
1 dropped bowl lid
1 lost hat

Holy Crap! Glad you made it out of there safe. Another weird winter.
ADVENTURE!
