Hi, does anyone know where to camp with a camping trailer near Paradise this time of year? Thank you.

Options are limited if you need hookups.  Mounthaven is ~ 1 mile west of the park entrance:
mounthaven.com/camping/#rv-spaces
Alder Lake Park is ~18 miles west of the park entrance:
www.mytpu.org/tacomapower/parks-recreation/alder-lake-park/
There are also a couple RV parks near Mineral. ~ 15 miles from the entrance:
www.rvparkreviews.com/regions/washington/ashford

If you don't need hookups and have a Discover Pass, there is a DNR campground (Sahara Creek) a couple miles west of Ashford, used mostly by equestrians.  No park campgrounds will be open until May 20; I don't think there are any with hookups.   Skate Creek Road (USFS #52 via Kernahan Rd) has decent trailer-sized turnouts at the viewpoint about Mile 5.5 and just before the initial bridge on the 84 road (a couple hundred yards from the jct at Skate Ck Mile 4.5).

Thank you so much for your detailed reply.

My question actually should have been written like this: does anyone know a good forest service road where I can camp off the grid in dirtbag style?

Thanks again!

Skate Creek Road opened the 11th, Big Creek Campground (USFS) on Skate Creek Road will reopen in May; but as Gary said there are a number of places to pull off the road and camp (no water etc.).

Whither Sunshine Point :(  that was a big loss.

I think the old Sunshine Point campground water intake is still on the hillside above the road.  There was talk of rebuilding a picnic area there after the '06 flood, but I've heard nothing lately, despite many tens of millions spent on park roads since.  A park management wishing to truly "enhance the visitor experience" (fave PR buzz phrase) could restore winter camping across the river in the old Longmire Campground, which they already have to partially plow to reach the sewage treatment plant.  Probably have to ban motor homes and trailers because of the sharp turn at the far side suspension bridge cable.  Another global warming option would be to move the Paradise gate a couple miles uphill and plow 'A' loop at Cougar Rock for winter vehicle camping.   ;D
