EZE and I had a fun time moving through the mountains last weekend, following the classic Forbidden tour.

Route: (Day 1) Left the car at 10 am, over Sharkfin col, short ski of the Boston, tour up to N ridge of Forbidden, skied the Forbidden glacier at sunset. (Day 2) Across moraine lake and up onto the Inspiration glacier quickly as the sun got higher, took the direct route to Eldorado easily finding our way up the glaciers. Took a long break on Eldorado's lower ridge, left some gear for a lap off the summit. Quick skin back to the stash and down-and-out to the car.

Snow conditions: Funky, heavy, wet snow pretty much everywhere. We were able to ski from near mile 22 with only a few short carries in the lower trail through the forest. Breakable crust on the Forbidden glacier. We found nice wind-buff chalk due N at the summit of Eldorado. Corn was almost setting up on the NE and E aspects when we skied down around 2-3 pm. We moved fast to get away from all steep faces which were shedding their winter coats relentlessly.  The glaciers were very "fat" but we noticed a number of hidden crevasses which will soon be open. The boulder field was filled in all the way back to the forest.

Weather: Clouds on the peaks Saturday which lifted by late afternoon. Sunday was gorgeous and warm.

How far down were you able to ski off of Eldorado?

All the way to the end of the boulder field.
Other notes: Bergschrund on the Boston side of Sharkfin was crossable on a bridge that may melt out soon. Big question is, Will the lake melt out before the road reopens?
