pow in the CHIC CHOCS

While most migrated south for spring break at St. Lawrence University in search of waves and rays, 10 of us made the haul to the Gaspesie peninsula for a couple days to hunt some pow as a part of a Outing Club trip.
And we found it.
The first day brought crust at Mt. Hogback, but an overnight dump made for blower tree skiing and 4 laps at Mt Lyall. The next day, three of us ventured into some gnarlier terrain next to a caribou breeding reserve. We dug a pit and noticed fracturing within the first couple palm hits. We picked our way along a ridge, summited, then carved some nice slabby turns, waiting for the slope to let go.
Got back down safe and sound to the hut, to meet a squad of the Canadian mountain infantry hanging out after doing some climbing.
Old man Winter isn't finished in the Beast Coast quite yet!
