March 4, 2016 Alta and Snowbird was created by Zap

This was a change of environment.  Our plan was to ski both Alta and Snowbird using the Mountain Collective Pass – you can ski both areas during the day and it only uses one of your 2 free tickets.  It is much easier to park at Alta and get your tickets than at Snowbird.  We parked within 50 feet of the Season Pass office, no shuttle required.  Alta has fewer tourists, and I did not see any snowboarders.  We started skiing some of our favorites runs at Alta, and then traversed to the boundary gate.  At Snowbird we started skiing Mineral Basin which has a southerly exposure, and it was hot.  We then moved over to the north side of the resort.   By noon the north side was warming, and it  definitely felt like spring time.  On our lift rides we met folks from VT, NH, NY, PA, GA, NC, SC, FL and TX; you get to meet America there.   A powder day is forecast to arrive Sunday night and the locals will return for the powder.  We rode the Peruvian Express and then rode the Tunnel from Peruvian back to Mineral Basin.  We skied down to the Baldy Express, took it up and crossed back to Alta.   We skied down to the Supreme lift where we met a few locals who were even older than we are!  We think we are skiing fast, BUT in comparison with the locals we are just old cruisers.  We did runs off the Collins lift, which are always in ads and movies for the access to some great terrain.  I've spent many powder days off  that lift.  It is a special area, and we had a great day spring skiing.   We are now heading to a new state.
