Column test today on sw aspect on Rampart ridge at 4800' was very reassuring.
About 14" loose storm snow atop about a 2" wet crust (Feb17?) with quite wet, very well cohered rounds below.
We couldn't get the column to move with a QT shovel tap, it basically got kicked down.
I love the Rampart ridge, it's like the wild west out there: lots to play for, vast wild terrain that could shoot you down and no one will tell you what to do, cos there's no one there. Except today 2 geezers skied out of the woods into the heinous slide path, so we oompa loopa'd up to the ridge, dug a pit along the way & shredded back down, some mild windslab but nothing moved or ran far. Great day. I wouldn't want to be there when it warms up!
