Sometimes the weather puts me in a bad mood. I drove out to Snoqualmie Pass early this morning to find pouring rain and miserable conditions that just weren't going to let up. Determined to find the sun, I set off for Ellensburg and was surprised to see...snow! On Manastash Ridge? I simply couldn't resist and ended up having a great time making ramps all day. To top it off, I was even able to snowboard all the way back to the car! Sometimes the best times to be had are where you least expect.
You might have caught it just right. A warm Chinook wind came up Sunday night and has melted most everything down low around here. I'm sad to see it go but it's like the snows of yesteryear. We've had lots of tours at Elk Heights, Manastash and Umtanum Ridges. Time to start moving westward.
