2016 Ridge Runner Uphill Sprint Series

A three race “Uphill Sprint Series” will take place during Saturday night Night Skiing at Mission Ridge on February 6th, 13th, and 20th. The races will follow different designated uphill routes each night with prizes going to the top finishers. The races will start at 5pm from the Base Area with a time limit appropriate for each night’s route. Headlamps are required and certain gear restrictions apply. Participants will be required to sign a liability waiver upon registration each night.

Saturday February 6th
Registration: 4:30pm outside of the rental shop in the Hampton Lodge
Race Time: 5pm
Time Limit: 2hrs
Route: Standard Bomber Bowl uphill route (Base Area to Summer Road, Bomber Bowl, Boundary Rd, Top Patrol Shack)
Summit: Top Patrol Shack
Downhill Routes: Tumwater to skiers left is open.
Cost: $10 includes beer/drink ticket

Uphill Sprint Series Rules
Ascent: Do not deviate from the ascent route.  (The Uphill Sprint Series is not about route finding, strategizing, etc.)  You must skin up on removable climbing skins, affixed to skis with full-length metal edges. mounted with bindings capable of freeing the heel (whether alpine touring / randonnée, telemark, splitboard, or even touring adapter inserts) but not SNS or NNN "bar" bindings), wearing plastic double ski boots or snowboard boots (but not mountaineering/climbing boots, leather telemark boots, or nordic ski boots).
Upon arrival at the designated “Summit” participants must check in with Ski Patrol to receive time.
Descent: Do not deviate from that night's designated descent zones. Grooming crews will be out on the mountain. Stay off freshly groomed runs. Keep your speed within typical ski patrol enforcement.
Upon returning to the Base Area, participants must check in with the registration staff to confirm that they have safely cleared the mountain.
Skinning<>Skiing Transition: Stop completely at the transition zone before removing skins from skis. Leave the zone only once skins are either reaffixed to skis or stowed away (whether in pack or clothing) and both hands are free to hold your poles.
Participants must register and sign liability release form.
Headlamps required of all participants.
There is a time limit for the event. If you do not achieve the “Summit” within this time you will be turned around and asked to return to the Base Area by a Patroller or Series Official. You must check in at the registration table even if you do not achieve the “Summit”.
