January 30-31, White Pass

16" fresh in  24 hours, with decent vis and little wind, made for a fine day.  We had to keep speed up around the Couloir Express due to the blue-square inclines, but there weren't many skiers, and we could find untracked snow all day.  Back on the front hill there was high quality tracked out snow all afternoon. In the evening we divided forces, and Lisa rode lifts under the lights while some of us did loops in the dark around Leech Lake.  She said the nighttime skiing was "a lot of fun" even after the snowfall stopped.

Does anyone know why the long double chair on the front right next to the high-speed quad doesn't run?

Yesterday we broke out the old Nordic gear and toured Forest Road 1284 to its end.  Swooping Saturday and gliding Sunday!

The old double still works, I think, but is only used in cases of big white being non-operational or for special occasions. All that great snow from Sat. Lasted in superb condition right up to today in the backcountry.
