Crystal S. Back was closed to resort riders today, no new snow overnight but snowing heavily this morning. My wife and I were here for the weekend and had done a few laps the day before in the SE trees. With the Avi Danger High and the resort on wind hold we headed up into silver Basin to explore.

Since about 7 am silver Basin had received anywhere from 6-12" depending on where the wind threw it. At 6000' we found the windslab. Keeping to low angle trees we continued on. At 6200' on SE facing slope we had some shooting cracks, trees were starting to thin out so we ripped skins skied out via wet, dense pow turns, and retreated to the flats for some beacon practice and called it a day.

Nice report. It's good to read about wise choices and lowered expectations when faced with obvious hazard. Useful information and low ego move. Thanks.
