saw silas get grabbed by the padded seats and almost hitch a ride around the bullwheel! must be a good report if him and his crew are up top early waiting for the nash gate to open, which it did. lost him at the chinese downhill from top to gate but i'm sure he & his pals had a great time. pretty decent trail out that took a lil patience to put in. couldn't see the rest of the day cuz viz in stokes was like 2 feet. still rode like a champ so it had that going for it.

Knoll 2 -> Billington's isn't a bad way to start one's season in the back bowls. Neither was Mach's -> H. Trees, Stokes -> Wall St. (at least, we think that's where we went), nor Brownie Bowl -> GB Trees. The latter was good and easy enough we went back for one more before the padded seats shut down for the day.

Vis into l'Internationale looked like this on those early laps though

We were across the street and above the fog when the high traverse charge went off. Big puff of smoke! Awesome snow for us, crap visibility on the bottom 1/2 of phantom mind you.

Not wall-to-wall this morning, but good times were had and great turns were made. Despite an early departure from the city we ended-up on the sixth chair up Armstrong but somehow snagged the 9th chair on 2 ??? Irregardless of pole position the crowd was super light for a 10"+ day and after the initial wait at the bottom it was ride-on, ride-off for the rest of the morning. Opted to try a lap up high first only to discover the snow was a bit wind-packed and crusted in E-Bowl (first tracks down, Schluct, however, were protected and tasty). Vis was in-and-out with the classic fog layer obscuring the bottom half of the Fan to Debbie's crotch, but was much better in Nash, with fog only between the exit of Felsen and the top of Sessel. Five top-to-bottoms later we had to go - was surprised to see Snake Dance was still closed on our last lap around 1130.

It must have opened right after that. I left at noon and got a run down it.

wxw for real these days. Morning was nice with high clouds and good vis. Afternoon brought wet snow and the traditional mid-mountain fog band. Missed out on powder hour this morning but got a buddy linking turns on a single plank at the bottom. I'm pretty sure once he gets that thing in powder he'll be a knuckledragger for life. Oh and the handful of laps out the upper gate and a few more down low before a sunset departure didn't suck either! 35F & snowing in lot 4 when we left...

16BBI was an over the top success.
The Cascade Mutherfucker was the perfect drink to occupy Lot4.
conditions were spectacular throughout the event and everyone got a taste of the goods life on both sides of the rope.
17BBI is just 358 days away.

FA rides the padded seats no matter the weather, and we've had fewer washings of them this season than any in recent memory.

I decided to break-even on my pass to Stevens on Sunday... although I'm not sure 3 hours of smashing taters counts as a full day. I heard Xtal benefitted from the classic Rainier suckerhole today - but turning in the rain "builds one's character", as my high school teachers would say.

16BBI was an overwhelming success, only would've been better had you graced us with your presence, ddk

There's always next year, eh?

Been pretty much wall to wall to crack to hole back to chair last month or three.
Padded Seats got a break from my ass today as we plundered The Hurricane Ridge, aka, Carnage Hill. Pretty sure my spot was filled during a ski skool day.

wXw again today, good vis under high clouds this morning made it easy to spot the holes and cracks, although a few snuck up on me (e.g. skier's left on Billington's) as the weather transitioned around noon. A brief snow shower passed thru while patrol held up traffic and blasted the cornii overlooking Sharon's knolls, but the delay was trivial and the work resulted in soft debris instead of vehicle-sized chunks. The singleplank crowd kept to the "middle" T and worked it in well enough that only a few pushes were necessary to get to knoll 3. Didn't feel like putting in the effort to boot up to PP, so we only made it as far as Mach's today, which rode very nice (as did the rest of the knolls, BB, and GB). GB & Heavenly trees were hammered by yesterday's crowd, not so nice in those zones, although the left side of GB did ride quite nice. Ended-up on the isthmus between the creeks in TC on the 2nd lap of the day, that was not pleasant and I'd advise staying either left or right of that gully entirely as riding a thin strip between two raging, open creeks with massive holes into them is not a fun time. Also re-learned that if you traverse really hard left in H Trees, you can get to the entrance of Sweet Little Annie - thank God for Black Hole being right there because the former is not an option at the moment. 34F and snowing hard when I left @ 4:30pm...

I had some time to think about the cornii today, they appeared to be basking in the sun. I scooted under them quietly around 930 this morning, the overnight wind had effected the snow underneath their cliffs creating some styro pockets making early travel slow. With the help of a couple friends we trudged forth to find our destined area Stoke's. From that point forward the day just got better.

Sunday was awesome, pretty close to untracked all day, until you hit the lower.

PS: They aren't kidding about cracks, holes and "things you can fall into". Didn't scope elevator or anything that close in but Billington's skiers right near the bottom is no fall territory these days, FYI.

Yes it was wall to wall at opening bell. Thanks to the above friends that cut the traverse, we all had a really fun day. Thanks again. It was hard enough following. I edited out the part where I look at my daughter after crossing the waterfall and say I'm drenched. LOL.

Nothing better than the adventure skiing of the Alpy BC:

What-fir kind-sir?
It's a quick and efficient way to see what's happened over a course of a season without having to go through a bunch of other one post threads... Pretty efficient really.

Partially sunny today, very few people.
Southerly slopes were chewed up and rough.
North aspects were chalky and skiing well with pockets of soft wind transport here and there.

The end ( for today  ;) )
