December 15, Mt. Rainier, Mazama Ridge Area

Ran up to Mazama with a buddy of mine for some laps in the drainage. Snow was funky, funky, funky with basically a giant single layer of Styrofoam like powder stuff. It was sticky and the visibility was awful but I had a blast. Got in a few laps before my friends gear (bindings and boots) all went to hell on him. Seems the new dynafit bindings and boots are engineered to the point of being super finicky and not readily subject to field repairs. I had my trusty Titans/Vipec 12s which did great assuming I remembered to put them in the walk mode so the toes didn't release on every kick turn. Did have some issues with skins icing up but stuffed them in my jacket between laps and it was fine.
