Summit East December 13, 2015

Thought with the power outage they might let you tour up to the top of Alpental despite the post yesterday. The patrol were doing control work today and hope to open later this week so no go. Decided not to head up the valley to Alpental BC for I was solo and early season can be a challenge. Went to Hyak and became one of many ants (my guess 50 to 100) on the hill. I learned to ski at Hyak when night skiing ran until midnight. Top to bottom was about according to my GPS was about 2 miles. The snow was a bit heavy but  skied well where fresh. Two avalanche classes were in season. Left my beacon in my backpack and air bag trigger in its pouch feeling a bit guilty I activated both at the top. Took a few beer pictures. Then headed to Acres for multiple laps with friends. Already better coverage than most of last year. Ended at the new brew pub for a very tastie winter ale.
