Feathered Friends has ConeHeads was created by Jake the Brit
This widget is now called a ConeHead
You push it into the open end of the handle section of a sectional ski pole, clamp it down & that’s it.
Originally I used them to convert a ski pole into a ‘plunging’ tool to help climb up steep booters. But you could modify a pole into a giant tent peg, they also make ferocious jewelry for Zmas

I recommend that the ConeHead lives on the pole it’s designed for, then when you need it, it’s there, and you just have to stuff the other pole sections down behind yer pack.. They come with a toggle. Keep the clove hitch tight.

Remember it’s a ski pole, not an ice ax.
Feathered friends has kindly agreed to stock a batch. I think they are priced at $20, I’ll check.
There are 2 sizes: ConeHead LARGE for all current Whippets (regular, 3 piece & carbon) and ConeHead SMALL for all other whippets.
Be safe, here’s a fool poem I wrote in a more lucid PR moment.

Stick it in yer Whippet
It’s a little trick-bit.
Sold by feathered people,
To get you up the steeple,

If you cannot travel,
to see the feathered people,
You can always pm,
& I’ll give one to the mailmen
(&ladies)

Please be safe
Jake

Are they being stocked in mass quantities?

Congratulations!

Looks like it'd be possible to chew a gram or two out of them by boring from the blunt end. A hole up to ~half of the sleeve radius (or more?) ought to have a negligible impact on strength and durability.

Chuck, Feathered Friends had 20 of these last week (10 small & 10 large). I have more & do anticipate dropping some more off with Feathered' before I leave Thursday  for a liver-assaulting trip to the UK for Xmas.

Charlie, I think that if I drilled a hole down the barrel, the toggle could hang-up when you push the steel bar through. I don't have a gram scale, but they are 7075 aluminium, which is light enough not to worry too much about weight. Thanks for the thought though, please don't think I'm poo-pooing your brain-cycles.
Rock on. Jake
