Varied and thin conditions today in the Crystal Southback. Triggered two mini (4-6' wide) hard wind slabs on steep NE aspects around 6,500' running on a very hard, slick ice layer which is at or near ground level.

Between about 6,500' and 5,500' found excellent skiing on ~4-6'' of powder on a firm base. SE aspects encountered generally remained frozen with some softening on warmest slopes.

Discovery is open and they're blowing snow for Quicksilver. I was able to ski to the base very cautiously without too much stone grinding via my favorite run, Tinkerbell.
