Staying in touch.  Multi day tours..  Really, really out there?  Cuz you like the tech?  the Delorme tech .  Send and receive..   Using Seth Wolpin as example - cuz i follow him on fb SW on fb , because he gets out there..

My fiance and I have a Delorme InReach Explorer and if you're ok paying the monthy service charge they are a handy tool. They aren't for everyone though.

When my wife suffered her fall in the Sierra Nevada in August, her companions got the word out in minutes using a DeLorme inReach device. It was not enough to save her, and she passed away within an hour or two. But it got the word out to the Sheriffs department, local rescue services, and the families of all the party members in a time frame which, had her injuries been somewhat less severe, might have saved her. I don't own a device like this yet, but I'm thinking about it. One of my wife's companions has offered advice to the manufacturer to improve usability, based on her experience during this tragedy.
