We drove to 3800' above Yellow Aster trailhead and started skinning on very thin cover from there. At milepost 5, the consolidated snow covered rocks well. Around Twin Lakes there was a variety of wind affected snow and low visibility.
Nearby we found some more sheltered terrain east and north facing 5300'-4600' and skied nice soft 12-16" powder over a consolidated base. After 2pm the wind increased so we decided to head home. The road down from Twin Lakes was smooth as a groomed run even all the way to our vehicle thanks to a few inches of new fallen powder.
