Summer tent.. was created by davidG
Speaking of Lock, I need a new tent. Multi day (week), alpine backpacking. Bomber, 1.5 man three season solo. Local made would be awesome, but.. Dwelling on the Big Agnes Copper Spur 2. Would be happy to know that perfection is only slightly more. And if it's from Euro-land or Down Under, that's fine. And since we're on the subject (worthy of it's own), what of 4 season multi-day alpine..? Tx

I've had a Big Agnes Slater 2+ for a couple years. Opted to get that over the Copper Spur because I wanted a tent body with minimal mesh (figured less mesh would keep blowing dirt out and also be warmer).
Its been a great tent- have used it for several week+ trips. Lighter, and roomier than a BD Firstlight tent, plus its warmer and has a fully waterproof fly. Not as quiet in the wind as a single wall and I wouldn't trust it in really bad alpine weather- but its been perfect for backpacking in the Sierras and Cascades.
My main gripe about the Big Agnes lightweight tents is the zipper used on the door has really small teeth and seems quite fragile- its rather easy for the teeth to become disengaged and splay open after zipping the door closed. Its also not free-standing and takes a lot of stakes/guylines to get it pitched tight.

Tarptent Single Rainbow
. I have used the Double Rainbow for 3.5 season use for 3+ years now. For it's weight it is a truly remarkable tent - never had an issue with rain getting through, and it's surprisingly good with condensation given it's a single wall. USA made too.
