Started up the trail to Camp Muir at 5:30ish in the hopes of finding some soft snow from the previous days snowfall. Sadly I didn't find any powder on the top of the paradise glacier or the muir snowfields, however the stiff supportive windboard up high did make for some decent predictable skiing in the morning. After the first run I waited till 11 when the sun came out from behind the high cirrus making for good turns to the bottom of the third snowfield.

Its crazy how the snow pack can change in a week. I went to Camp Muir yesterday and the day's hiking and skinning were beautiful but the ride down fairly nasty. Also there are some crevasses opening with holes that would be unpleasant to fall into on the Muir snowfield. I've never seen that before. The hazards are easy to navigate with visibility but will be hidden in a whiteout or with a foot plus of fresh. It worth noting cause I think most people consider the Muir snowfield free of such hazards.
