I'm planning to go to the Palmer snowfield and I'm interested to comparing it to 2005. Right now I expect similar conditions. Photos from 2005 trips below:

I think it will be somewhat better. Top of Palmer has a fairly thick base, considering how bad it's gotten at Palmer mid. That big lateral rock near the top was peaking through last Oct, but is nowhere in sight yet.

Those pictures give me the shivers. When I have skiing nightmares, they're often about ski fields that have shrunk to the size of the Palmer in your first pic.

That comment tempted me to check out this:

Looks like limited terrain even for my July 21-22-23 return trip.
Sure glad I don't have to keep a monthly streak going!

"Where will you ski in Aug and Sept this year?"

Oh man. Been asking myself that question as I'm working towards 4 years of TAY in September. I usually hit up Pinnacle 'Glacier' in desperate times, but it's looking really tiny this year from the Tatoosh webcam. Went up to ski the Flett on Saturday and that was really nice. This summer/fall is just going to require some more leg work to get those turns.

There's a secret line at the base of Big 4... there's nobody hitting it right now either, may be best to scrape down it at night.

Or there's always the straight glacier, vesper's n glacier, sloan's e glacier, if you're feeling like something a little more off the beaten path ???
