Had a nice ski for the solstice. Still plenty of snow outside of Crested Butte this year.
I stopped skiing through the summer when I moved south and up but this year seemed to be a good one for a solstice ski. Headed up Slate River road, where I ran into my friend Alex, who had the same plan. We had a nice hike up the ridge, great views from the false summit, and about 2000' of enjoyable turns down to the base of Cinnamon, where we hiked back up and over to the road.
It made me miss my time in WA and BC, and the ridiculously enjoyable adventures inspired by mountains that reliably keep snow all summer long.
