Brought ropes and stuff to Ruth on Saturday and had a reconnaissance/practice day . Dirt walking till 5400ft. Only one creek crossing required if you stay climbers left after reaching the creek. Fun, fast turns on the ENE shoulder of Ruth.

This image might be of interest to those considering the climb from Camp Schurman:

outstanding shots as always. Does the Emmons corridor look way more broken up than usual, or is there something about the photo?

I'm sure someone with more years of experience with the glacier's condition can chime in, but here is an image from July of 2013 (from a different angle - mine taken from Sherman)

It seems to look somewhat similar to the conditions in May of 2015...but it's hard to tell. I had hoped our "snow drought" would mean the upper mountain might still be relatively "normal" per calendar year... would be curious what others think....

Thanks, Andy.

I lack historical perspective to be making notes about what's normal for this route. Perhaps some more folks with better experience will chime in. Thanks for the comparison shot, Erik.

Looks broken up to me

Not super deep, and a month ahead of most picture dates.  Look how much more of Russell cliff is already out in 2015.

Here's a shot from the prow on 6/2/2013:

Thanks for the beta. Looking forward to
skiing off the top when conditions are
ready. Any beta on the bridge washout?

Mmm? Nothing listed on the MRNP trail conditions site besides a low crossing of the Nisqually river.

The footbridge adjacent to the White River Campground is out, according to signs near the parking area.

Is there another one you're thinking of?

Thanks for the beta; it will be interesting to see what route the rangers set.
Winthrop shoulder may get the nod but the access ramp looks to be just out of frame on the lower right (behind the Prow).
Anyone have a current photo showing the route from Sherman to the Winthrop shoulder?
