The current weather just isn't suited to multiday trips, so we have to sneak in a quick tour when the window opens. Birgitz is a great location, only half an hour drive to the base of a ski area at 6600' from where a handful of peaks are skinable. Today we drove up after lunch at 130pm and skinned Pirchkogel in gradually worsening weather. The high freezing level after recent snowfall gave us 8" of whipped butter to ski from 9400' down to the 1" grainy corn in the ski area below 8000'.
