Three Dog Night

Alan Parsons Project, Pyramid, 'What goes up'

The trademark APP left right metronome rhythm and this lyric is the AT skiers theme song

You're going to get as as many answers to this question as there are genres of music, and I guarantee that while you are skinning up to Muir listening to BB King someone else on the snowfield is listening to Beyonce while yet another is rockin Swedish death metal.

But there are some commonalities. Generally for rhythmic aerobic exercise you want a 4/4 time signature (ubiquitous in popular music) and a tempo of 120 - 130 bpm. Bonus points for strong emphasis on the 1 and 3 beats (thus creating the metronome referenced by Weaver). A lot of digital music has metadata that gives the bpm (including virtually any music you purchase from an online store). Most music programs like iTunes have the ability to create "smart playlists" that would harvest songs from your music library that have, say, a 120 bpm. Give that a shot and see what comes up! Increase or decrease the bpm to suite your personal pace taste.
