help! cracked Dynafit Speed plate was created by cumulus
was checking my bindings just now and noticed an inordinate amount lot of play in one of them, enough to make me unscrew it:

(picture below)

Got plans to go tour in 3 hours (sold my other pair of skis earlier this season and have not replaced them) so looking for anyone out there with potential replacement parts
It's a good old standard Dynafit Speed binding

Stefan - 206 two-nine-zero 3224   thanks!

:(. Replacement post/base assemblies are hard to come by for older bindings. Dynafit has stopped providing them for older pairs.

Fortunately, Dynafit hasn't fooled with the bolt pattern on the heel at all. Any Dynafit heelpiece will match.

Good luck!!!

Won't help in the next three hours, but Skimo.co will sell you a Speed-Turn heelpiece for $100: skimo.co/dynafit-binding-heels .

Could try a local shop for heels?

I never seemed to have had any problems with the heel pieces with my tele bindings...

Huh, I'very lost count of how many times alpine skiers told me "your binding is broken" riding on the lift with my Tele setup.

yeah right who needs heels bound anyhow, I just took the other post off and tele-ed for the weekend... ;)

seriously, -  thanks for the input Charlie.  While taking the binding apart

I was on the phone and email with Salewa in boulder and pretty much everyone in town who carries dynafit, but came up empty handed. As you pointed out Charlie, Speed Classics are out of production and so are spare parts. Thanks Greg Louie and Eric and all others who were helpful.

In the end my friendly neighbor let me borrow a Radical heel piece which I mounted in place of the broken one. Dimensions were a bit mismatched--radical heel higher in descent mode and lifters lower on the up, but it didn't stop me from having fun.

New bindings are in the mail... if anyone has a spare Speed Classic heel, or parts, please let me know. I want to keep the rock skis sliding...

the east coast came through!

Thank you Jonathan Shefftz, who is sending me precisely what I needed: a post and base-plate replacement.

This experience has made me want to start a dynafit junkyard. I like the idea of keeping equipment alive as opposed to disposable (kinda like all the 50's cars down in Cuba). And old dynafit bindings fit the bill. Robust... but no more parts being made. So if you have the errant single or broke-down part, or even a pile of random dynafit parts that you don't want or need, don't throw 'em out, send them my way and I'll start a dynafit junkyard that can be scavenged as scavenging is needed...

I just figured it would be good karma that might help all of you to get "your" Mount Adams in good shape for my June visit, especially since "my" Mount Adams was already in such fine shape during the last three days of April:

Seriously though, I do have a well-stocked Dynafit spare parts bin, so feel free to give me a holler if you're ever in need of some obscure part for a discontinued model -- otherwise, Skimo Co FTW:

East coast rules! this year anyhow...
Hopefully the pics work their mojo for your visit Jonathan. Looks like some sweet late April turns in your neck of the woods (Adams).

Got the part, thanks. Spent some time last Friday on dynafit assemblage and mountage before heading out to ski (and bushwhack!).
I'll post more here later on my dyna-fiddling mis-adventures and logistics.
