April 5-8, 2015, Bow-Peyto, Winter 2.0 is Here!!

Winter 2.0 has arrived in the rockies. Stellar conditions with light faceted pow on north aspects above treeline. Moderate winds on the evening of the 7th wiped the slate on the farmed slopes above the bow hut and Rhonda. Found 20-30cm of light snow on top of a temperature/sun crust on SE and E aspects on Trapper and the surrounding ridges. 200cm was the minimum snowpack probed on the glaciers just above the onion and in some windward locations on the Peyto glacier. Travel conditions for the bow lake entrance are currently excellent although snow is thin by the lake. Other parties reported good travel conditions for the Peyto Lake entrance.
