April 4, 2015, Slot Couloir

No sense in glossing it over - the shwack up, and down, Snoqualmie, sucked. Up the Phantom, over to the SE shoulder, then, blessedly, transitioning from post-holing to skinning on the shoulder at 5k feet. Really nice above that (would have been even nicer had I remembered water). Found a skin track coming directly up from the Phantom - should've taken that way to save some time - then popped out at the Slot drop-in. My first time - mighty photogenic! And steeper than I expected. The snow in the couloir was awesome, and, had I not forgot my poles, would have been the funnest skiing I've done in a while.

Lessons of the day:
1. checklists are handy in the pre-dawn hours
2. a trip to the Slot may take longer right now
3. brace for a minor ass-kicking in the forest
