March 27, Paradise, MRNP
« on: 03/29/15, 12:04 PM »

warm and windless in the carpark, but plenty of snow pluming off Anvil rock. Big Lenticular over the NE of the mountain. We decided to ski down to 4th crossing and then up the paradise to avoid the wind. Calm and sunny conditions until 8500ft where we were met by much stronger winds around 35mph.

Transitioned and skied down in some nice corn between 8500 and 7k. Poopy slop below that. Didn't tempt anything steep. Lots of storm slab release on SW through to NE aspects all between 7500 and 6000ft.

Wow you saw that slab come down? Cornice-triggered?

We bailed off the Muir route and went up the Paradise, too. Best turns of the day were soft and creamy on the first slope of the Paradise glacier down to Cowlitz Rocks saddle.
