March 22-23, 2015, Rogers Pass, Ursus, 7 Steps

Went up Connaught on the 22nd hoping that cloud cover would keep south faces from turning to schmoo. Sadly 30 minutes of sun was all it took to turn all the pow to schmoo. Turned around at 2300m for some ok turns up high turning into full on schmoo at 2100. Asulkan was considerably better skiing as one would expect. Dry snow began at 1950 on shaded aspects. Lots of activity across the valley on east aspects. No one had yet to ski the Youngs headwall but a group put a track into Sapphire Col. Good skiing down the steps with boot top ski pen turning to schmoo just below the bottom of the tree triangle.

With the incoming warm temps and the current funky snowpack in the selkirks it may be best to wait till temps cool back down a little before sending to the pass. I hear the rockies are pretty good right now though (;
