Skinned up skyline this am hoping to find some turns. Sadly, yesterdays snow has become a 3" mush layer covered by a nasty breaking crust. Really fat skis might plane out over the crust, but on my smaller skis the conditions were not worth the drive up the pass. YMMV.
Given the massive crowds, my wife and I were either just ahead of or a while behind you. Our 90mm and 100mm underfoot skis did ok. We've skinned up for worse this year, so there's that, I guess.
