3/15/15: Stevens - Low Hanging Fruit

So ironic that the day after Stevens Pass suspended it's operations, there falls 4" of new snow! Early start (slopes by 6:15 AM) yielded 3 laps up to top of Skyline Chair. Strangely enough, the chair was running for the first 30 minutes I was there! Base is INDEED thin; no more than a foot in most places, and much less in most. Grooming underneath is re-firmed slush. But, the new snow piled up as I skinned and re-skinned, so by lap 3, I enjoyed soft top snow in complete solitude! Hope this week's warming temps and more rain don't completely wipe out the snow. The ease-of-access factor is a good thing for my current state of affairs. I don't guess the area itself will re-open for operation soon, though...
