Figuring the end of a corn cycle is a good time to try some seldom skied lines, I took the day off today  for a ski down Mt Hood's Superbowl.  Hiking up along the ridge above Meadows was pretty easy going, so I didn't end up pulling the skins out.  Seems strange that they have been able to offer a snow cat up there in some year's past, definitely not an option this year.

I stopped just below the base of the Wyeast Face and took off for some fun cruiser turns down the wide open bowl and then down through the entrance into Heather Canyon.  The snow was firmer than I had hoped in the upper part of the bowl, with a bit of an edgeable chalky feel, but softened up pretty nicely below 8,000 ft.  I wasn't too keen on creek hopping down lower Heather Canyon, so held my edges for a long contour traverse across the mostly hardpack north facing Heather slopes, to intercept Shooting Star Ridge.  Just another winter bluebird day in the NW...
