Inspired by recent trips in the area (see reports by danpeck, Will Thomas, and Hummel et al), P. Innes, R. Kresser and I attempted Glacier Peak via White River in a single push. We began shortly after midnight on Saturday, moved well to treeline, botched the navigation in the dark, hit the pass west of White Mountain at dawn, and ended up turning around about 1200 feet below the summit in high winds for a 16+ hour day. Had a reactive windslab on concave southern aspects, and a ~6 inch storm slab on NW aspects that didn't propagate much. Lots of rollerballs in the slide paths below White on the way out.

Some incredible, wintery turns, and lots of pleasure from the sheer joy of traveling on skis. Details and photos proportional to the length of the trip on the
Strong work fellas!

Great write up and photos.  Liked the last one in the forest especially.  I've felt that way before, yet with the glow of an amazing trip lasting for weeks afterward. ;D

Really curious to read the report by Will Thomas... could you provide a link?

Glad you enjoyed it! There's something special about finishing up a ski trip hiking through the woods. Here's Will's report: http://www.turns-all-year.com/skiing_snowboarding/trip_reports/index.php?topic=33715.0

aha ;D  For some reason I was thinking he had his own blog,  Muchisimas Gracias!

Beautiful writing as always Ethan.
