Beautiful day out; whole lot 'o booting for March first. Put skis on at 5360'. Plenty of supportable windslab to 20 cm, but no propagation; didn't tempt steeper slopes. Snow softened somewhat in the sun, but refreezing had begun by our descent at 3pm.

Non-skiers in our party had vastly more efficient travel, but skiing's still fun. Thanks Carla, Joanna, Susan, Will, and Yonina for a great day.

crazy

Charlie - Are you saying that you had to hike quite a distance from the car just to get to snow line?  Is it worthwhile?  Was thinking of shooting up there this weekend.  If the weather is nice, midas well go ski up high...

Yep. Didn't hit skiable snow until 5360'.

Not sure which direction you're coming from, but Adams looked mighty good from afar. Don't know about the road access, though.

So, I have a trip planned to meet some friends at St. Helens in a week and a half.  I would imagine the top is in great shape.  Anyone tried this recently? Is the upper part of the mountain worth the hike?
