Cle Elum River Road access?
« on: 02/18/15, 04:27 PM »

With Lowell and Dan driving out to ski El Dorado in February, I'm wondering if we might have similar access to the central cascades?

Anyone know if you can drive to the end of the Cle Elum River Road, for access to the Mt. Daniel area?

I'd like to restart this thread. Any info on the Cle Elum River road? Last year kenji, radka and company posted a trip report for Hawkins Mountain that's intrigued me ever since.

I drove up the Cle Elum River Road on 4/26/15.  It's snow free until about 1/2 mile from Scatter creek and Tucquala Lake where I turned around.  Some of the snow ruts were ~1ft deep plus some hidden pot holes underneath.  So high clearance still probably needed for now. And bring a shovel and a friend to push just in case, I forgot both so no pics of the deeper ruts.

5/24/17 - sizeable snow patches warrants parking .70 mile north of Fortune Crk crossing for standard Subaru clearance.  Keep the tennis shoes on up to at least Scatter Crk crossing due to inconsistant road snow. Plan to get feet wet for the north braid crossing of Scatter creek across road. Creek is running high submerging any foot logs outside the road corridor.
