These guys seem to be the latest, greatest in ski construction technology: www.bcomp.ch/31-0-bCores.html It appears that their balsa-flax cores are in the new lightweight DPS Tour1, Line, and Kitten Factory (and maybe Sportiva?) skis. www.playnaturallysmart.org/category/ski/
I had the good fortune to attend the SIA ski demo days at Copper Mountain, Colorado this past Monday and Tuesday. My nomination for Best in Show is the Kitten Factory Toors Light, about a pound lighter per ski than the same width Rossignol Soul 7, but still with good edge hold and playfulness (rocker/camber/rocker.)

... And I KNEW that was an image of the Pfeifer horn. That's the mountain I grew up on... I HAVE to get these skis now.
