The rockies are experiencing exceptional stability now that the temperatures have cooled after it rained pineapples for a few weeks. Sticky snow has also brought many of the cleaner couloirs into condition. We took advantage of the current conditions and skied a couloir on the north face of Mt. Whymper. There was about 10-15cm of new snow in wind sheltered locations with 30cm in wind favored areas.

The couloir had styrofoam snow in the sluff line with soft pow on the sides. We had to stop 50m from the ridge due to a short section that wasn't quite filled in yet.

The col had 30cm of rockies cold smoke around a wind feature and along the side of the cliffs with 15cm the rest of the way to the bottom of the basin. The wind was just starting to slab up the new snow and sluffs were running fast on the hard windboard bed surface.
That sounds incredible.

Edward would be proud of you! Nice line. Have fun

Looks fantastic, thanks for the post.

We repeated Mt. Whymper on the 4th. Conditions were even better although the wind was starting to cause concerning consolidation of the snow at the col. We still ascended the same way up the north slopes of Mt. Whymper but this time we dropped a car lower down on 93S. Skiing the south side cuts out the slog down the Chickadee valley. The south scree gulley was wonderfully cross loaded providing fluffy knee deep turns into the basin below. The snowpack is pretty low below 1800m but still deep enough to provide decent coverage the majority of the time. I recommend skiing the skiers right side of the prominent gulley when dropping from the cirque down to the highway.
