A rather quiet day circumnavigating Table and skiing short laps off the best aspects, we saw just a handful of people, really only 3 souls if not counting the Artist Point and Herman Saddle groups. The parking lot had 20 cars tops. The White Salmon Lodge was closed and the ski area operated from Heather Meadows only, the Pineapple Express took away at least 2 feet of the base. Bleak post apocalyptic feeling, still the skiing was good and the navy danger moderate.

Lots of day or two old avalanches observed, most of them already melted and flattened by rain, saw a huge 4 ft snow wheel that was lying on its side on the NE aspect of Table, the snowpack was isothermal through and through but skinning was ski penetration only. Good corn turns. No visual or audible signs of instability observed.

I have stopped doing the snow dance, because it does not work!

For once the Google Earth snapshot *almost* shows the actual snow cover.

the navy danger moderate.

Is this an assumption based on the open water on the lakes?  ;D

LOL, I did not catch that, it is the autocorrection, although I agree the amount of water on display warranted a navy forecast rather than an avy forecast. Have fun with skis and words!
