Just a quick post for anyone thinking of heading up to Baker Tuesday the 20th.

The snow was pretty good today.  On the approach you could see that There were 2 or 3 small sluffs that triggered naturally on the north aspects but overall there was not much movement in the snow on the north facing slopes.

2 Column tests (1) high up on skiers left above the Blueberry Chute revealed a 4 or 5" soft slab that felt like it would release when I dropped in to the steeper top section.  And it did.  (2) column test below table between the rock buttress and Little Alaska.  There was a 12" layer that released after my fourth elbow compression.  it didn't release cleanly.

After some deliberation and discussion we decided to ski it with the intention to ski a little faster up top on the steepest section.   We traversed a little closer to L Alaska and then dropped in on an area that had sluffed earlier.  Nothing moved.

The run off of Table from there is in fine shape with plenty of lines still to be had tomorrow. Especially if it stays cold tonight.    any Snow not affected by what little sun there was today stayed cold.  It is skiing fast.  if you go you can expect 10-14" of good times to greet you.  Sluff management was the theme of the day today.  Get past that and you may even get a little snow in your teeth.

Surprisingly it wasn't that busy.  Lots of snow shoers using the skin track but hey.... its all good.
