Hyak's New Rampart Chair Down

The new Quad chair, that was looking like it may be open for this season, took quite the blow from the wind event that hit our region late Saturday night into Sunday morning, check out the pictures.

Wow, that is severe damage! Thanks for the news and photos. Would not have expected that, especially from what was advertised as only a moderate windstorm by Northwest standards. Guess you can never tell when trees will topple in rain-soaked soil.

Just for future reference, here's the NWAC telemetry showing the winds at the Pass, with max gusts of 70+ mph early AM Sunday (wind site is atop Summit West, about 3 miles NNW of Hyak):

The footing and or anchor bolts look suspect to me.
Usually in a overload situation like that they shear off at the base.

If there was some kind of construction defect I'd hope they inspect the rest of the towers some how.
