Tahoe beta - best ski resorts, B/C possibilities was created by Don Heath
I'm going down to stay at Tahoe next week. Any recommendations on the best (spelled c-h-e-a-p) resorts to ski close to town? (Have to take a family of 5 lift skiing at least one day). Also, any easy to get at backcountry areas? Thanks!

Hey Don,
We were just in the area a few days ago. Didn't ride lifts, but toured a bunch. Tamarack Mt.
just above Mt. Rose ski resort had great coverage and was easily accessible. Also played around on Castle Peak. Longer approach, but great scenery and more technical terrain. Have a great trip!

What part of Tahoe? When I was in South Lake I was directed here for convenience and quality north facing trees.
