Well I never thought i would resort to such conditions(5'' of settled snow on dirt and rock) to keep a streak. Im not sure that it was as much skiing as survival traversing but month 13 has passed and winters coming.
A year ago to the day 30'' of 6 percent snow rose the base depth to around 60'' in the Wasatch and some of the best skiing of the season.
In september on shasta i said to myself that i wouldnt resort to a just for a streak mentality and wouldnt ever do what i just have done. Sure enough there was something fooling me.
That brings up a question that i have pondered for years. Is it better to wait for a great first day of the season or just go to go and not worry about it for a great day will come eventually?
