Unable to get out and enjoy the new snow over the weekend and inspired by the recent TRs from Snoq Pass, I and a coworker headed up for some dawn turns this morning. Yesterday's wet snow had set up overnight and despite there being fresh snow on the trees, it was basically little-to-no dust on a trappy crust on top of a foot of manky schmoo. The first couple turns off the top were enjoyable but from there down it was survival skiing at its finest. There were about a half dozen folks out making the best of it and the cats were track-packing Little Thunder the whole time. Despite a superb sunrise, Webb's cloud made an appearance and the pass was enveloped in fog by the time we left at 0930 for our desks in the lowlands.

Dawn in Issaquah:

Questionable snow level:

The padded seats were looking good from across the way:

Meanwhile, across the valley, Alpy was riding fine above 4000 or so feet.  Below 4000 feet the brushpack was healthy, and delivered crotch shots of the Cascades' finest:  alder, mountain ash, western hemlock, huckleberry, etcetera, but at least kept us off the local geology.

Someone really needs to see about adding about 1500' to the base of those areas--or the top of summit west/central/hyak.

Plate Technonics -- get to work!

It would be perfect if they got just enough snow to cover up the debris and avoid any serious core shots but not enough to open Alpental followed by a solid freeze and then a series of 3,500 foot freezing level storms.
