Driven close to madness by the lack of snow in W.A, and the promise of lift access skiing in Auzzie-Canukville we headed north the the Canadian Monolith of Whistler/Backcomb for November salvation. WBC spun the Village gondola, big red and emerald Chairs on their opening day. Machine groomed runs skied very nicely early on and I was pleasantly reminded of how 6-7 months of back country skiing can make your downhill legs so week. We cycled 2000ft runs with a 5 minute lift respite until all that was left of the 23cm snowfall was chicken scratch by 10.30am.

we broke out the skins and toured up little whistler peak for powder laps until after lunch. the saddle skied like a dream on nice settled / consolidated powder until tracked out in the late afternoon. This was interspersed with a few punishment laps down big red to make sure we still appreciated soft snow above. Emerald chair runs skied softer in the afternoon. All in all, an excellent day of skiing with the "miracle lifts" that magically transported us uphill at a pace no rando-skier could match.

With no snow below 42OOft,..and only Australians left to direct proceedings in Canada, the evening download to base camp was rather chaotic by american standards....but when in Canada...?? do as the Auzzies would do???
