It's coming... was created by pipedream
... well, at least above 8k. Next weekend could be a little different than the past 4 months:

This is generally considered to be the best Mt. Rainier Forecast   calling for snow as low as Paradise on Wednesday but then rising considerably; btw it snowed as low as Paradise last night but not much.

Looks like late last week was just a teaser.

"Across the higher elevations of north-central Washington, southwest Montana, and central Idaho, measurable snowfall is expected across higher elevations, including portions of the Cascades and Anaconda ranges."

The forecast Andrew posted above shows relatively high snow levels early this week, rapidly dropping to below Paradise by Friday. The NWS point forecast for Camp Muir shows substantial new snow coming down this week and subsiding by the weekend. I don't want to jinx it, but I think it's time for a fresh coat of wax...

Saturday does NOT look like a good day to be in the mountains:
cliffmass.blogspot.com/2014/10/heavy-rai...indstorm-threat.html

Sunday, however, could be worthwhile for those late October powder turns. Monday will probably be the most mild, but we're gonna get hammered with another doozy next Tues.

Gas up your generators, it could be a dark weekend in the PNW.

Hope for the winter (hope for skiers and snowshoers that is), the weather pattern may not repeat with a wet fall, dry winter and wet, cool spring. The blob is unexpectedly on it's way out. With it gone our winter should now be uncertain (who knows?) and California may see an end to the 2 year+ drought. In California the pattern was called the RRR - ridiculously resilient ridge.
